Alter-Lite™ windows from ThermoView Industries: These "smart" windows give you the power to decide just how much sunlight shines into your home.

Alter-Lite™ windows feature suspended particle device (SPD*) technology.

Suspended particle device means that microscopic light-absorbing particles are "suspended" in a film within the glass of our Alter-Lite™ windows. When light tries to pass through the window, the particles absorb the light, making the window appear dark and preventing the passage of light.

Alter-Lite™ windows remain dark unless an electrical charge is applied.

To make the windows transparent, a low-voltage electrical charge is activated, causing the suspended particles to align so light can pass through.

The intensity of the light passing through the window is easily controlled by adjusting the voltage level.

Alter-Lite™ windows require very little power (less than 0.6 watts per square foot).
